Delfshaven was originally part of Delft, and was built along the Delfshavense Schie, the canal that forms the connection between Delft and the Maas. After being independent for a while, it became part of Rotterdam. The Pilgrim Fathers left for America from the picturesque, historic Delfshaven harbour. Today, the area houses a variety of cultures. Cultural diversity can also be found at the international primary school, De Blijberg.
