The Molenlaankwartier is a very popular neighbourhood with many relatively expensive houses. The American International School of Rotterdam is also located here which makes the neighbourhood attractive to expats. The southern part of the neighbourhood has a historic atmosphere with houses stemming from the beginning of the 20th century. The north side mainly has houses from after the war. The historic centre of Hillegersberg is located to the south of the neighbourhood and the Lage Bergse Bos forest and recreational area is located on the north side.
